Top 10 String Inverters
This type of inverter is connected to many (determined through a design process) photovoltaic (PV) modules or panels in series and their combined DC power is converted to AC power. For smaller customer loads, a single string inverter (depending on its size) may be sufficient to meet the AC demand.
For large systems, string inverters are connected in parallel and collected at a common AC busbar for distribution to a customer’s load.
In most applications, power optimizers are attached to the back of each module to:
- monitor the performance of each panel.
- generate more power from each module and overcome shading.
- To avoid module-level power clipping.
